COLD MILLING SERVICES
Aging asphalt, friction-less surfaces, and poor pavement quality can pose a threat to the very safety of your ground and business. But what if there’s an easy, economic, and environmentally friendly way to extend your lot’s life?
In the year 2007, we recognized that the future of asphalt paving had arrived. To stay on top of trends and provide modern solutions to our customers, we embraced the latest in asphalt removal technology — Cold Milling, a process that effectively replaces your aging asphalt with a fresh, more stable layer.
For more than a decade, we have been working closely with our material supplier, Sealmaster Chicago, to bring green products and technology to the community.
UNCOVER YOUR GROUND’S POTENTIAL
At Maul Paving, we believe that there’s immense potential beneath every surface. Our goal is to help you uncover it by removing the full (or partial) depth – adjusting the grade of your ground, improving your drainage and possibly extending the life of your lot by up to 10-15 years.
WHY COLD MILLING?
IT’S GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY
We’ll only remove the failed surface of your asphalt and salvage the layer beneath. This saves time, cuts back on waste, and allows car traffic for much of the process with minimum disruption to life and business.
IT’S GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
As one of Chicagoland’s most trusted cold milling companies, we’re committed to making the world a better place, one square foot at a time.
Creating clean and safe neighborhoods is a big part of why we do what we do. Cold Milling technology requires far less processing and handling of waste than conventional methods, so more of the material can be recycled. It is not just more friendly to your budget, it’s good for the natural world as well.
HOW DOES COLD MILLING WORK?
Cold milling can be described as the controlled removal of asphalt or concrete pavement and the subsequent reuse of displaced material in projects.
At Maul Paving, we hit the ground running with our powerful milling machines that cut the distressed layer of the pavement and grind the asphalt to form Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP). Once the RAP is cleaned, it is repurposed in a number of ways:
- Coated with hot asphalt
- Reused as a base aggregate
- Recycled through Cold Central Plant Recycling
GRANULAR ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Sometimes, the rehabilitation of your ground may only need the partial removal of asphalt. Whether that’s to clear old markings or correct superficial pavement problems, milling, i.e., removing a thin layer of defective asphalt, is a quick and effective way to restore your ground and reduce repair costs in the long run. The textured pavement created by milling acts as a driving surface – preventing slippage and ensuring the safety of customers on your campus.
There are a million reasons to choose cold milling. Contact us today to see which ones make the most sense for your ground.
